Insomnia

D-day minus 27

Wired. All. Night.

The darn cat didn’t come in last night and I’m quite positive that this is what sparked it off. As much as I tried to tell myself he’d be fine (or if he wasn’t, that it is what it is), I simply could not relax. I’m an insomniac from way back, but that certainly doesn’t mean that just because I’m used to it I enjoy the dreaded long nights when they do come back to visit. And the most irritating part is that I didn’t even feel remotely tired. Although I suppose I should be grateful for that, shouldn’t I? Nothing worse than trying to drop off when you’re desperate for it. I mean, things could be worse – it’s not as though I had to work today. Still, I had loads of plans and computer tasks in mind to complete, and it’s just so frustrating to know that the (impending) day ahead is likely to be super un-productive. Even after the cat finally gave up his nocturnal adventures (around 2 or 3 I guess; I was following my no-clock-viewing rule), I was still wired.

Eventually got up and read for a while, partly my pregnancy book – the section on labour – which possibly wasn’t the smartest plan given that it filled my head with ideas about all the many many things I still need to organise and get done. Besides which I’m starting to feel as though I’m in limbo, like it could happen anytime. In theory it’s still weeks away – get a grip girl! Woke at 10 – I feel as though I had around 5 hours sleep, so it definitely could be worse. Got to push it now before the collapse comes! Perhaps this is my version of nesting :-)

Body plus baby? Easy!*
