What’s Working For Me At The Moment
Amazingly, I actually have the time to drop by and say hi today. It’s 7.34am and A is still out cold (probably just jinxed myself there!) and – what’s even more amazing - I’ve already knocked 2 biggies off today’s list. I’m using a new technique to get things done, and it’s working incredibly well. [...]
The Loss Of Routine
Babies are all about routine. That’s a given. Get them into a routine and they thrive. They’re happy, they eat well, they sleep well, and the world runs smoothly. Of course that’s just what I’ve heard, since personally I seem to be an absolute failure at creating a routine. This is definitely in part due [...]
Musings
I’m really enjoying the journey at the moment. Considering Alyssa has basically not slept since Friday, that’s really saying something! People (who don’t have kids) often ask me how I cope, or say they don’t know how I cope, in terms of a lack of sleep. I was chatting about this with a friend on [...]

Today’s Goals
This blog has basically evolved into a bit of a journal just for my own use. I’ve actually never really bothered to market it and so the readership is still fairly low, at least compared to Body Incredible. When I first started out I had big plans to become the ‘expert’ on getting back in [...]
Rice, Chocolate Bullets, And Other Chunky But Oh-So-Good Foods
Today I am feeling CH-Chunky. Chunky with a capital chunk. I don’t really mind, to be honest. Well. Let’s face it. No gal loves the feeling of ever-so-slightly-yet-definitely-impossible-to-ignore pressure against the button of her Diesels. But I gotta be honest – I don’t have an excuse.
Yesterday I worked a full day from 6am until 7pm, [...]
I love …
I love the way her pudgy little hands curl in happy relaxation while feeding. I love the little dimples that sit around her knuckles. I love the contented sigh that slips out when she’s (finally!) finished feeding. I love the sudden re-attachment and fast-paced sucking when she realises she’s slipping away but actually wants more. [...]
The Juggle
Do you ever feel like you’ve just plain old got too many balls in the air?
I don’t know about you but after I’d had Alyssa for around 4 months I realised that I was pretty much trying to still do everything I’ve ever done as well as be a good Mum. And considering that I [...]
Is Meat-Eating Based On Instinct?
Apparently so. We actually got this little episode on film, and it was hilarious. Everytime we tried to get the meat away from her she shrieked bloody murder until we gave it back. 3 guesses as to whether the same thing happened with a celery stalk, piece of sweet potato, or head of broccoli.
Got me [...]
.05 Breastmilk
According to the breastfeeding gurus, a standard glass of wine will be fully absorbed after 2 hours. Okay. That's not so bad. Mind you, a standard glass these days is 90mls. Hmm. And the risk of letting your bub drink alcoholic breastmilk (which, by the way, follows the same process as blood alcohol, so expressing and throwing away is futile. Only time works) is poor brain development. Considering that your brain develops to almost its full adult potential in your first year of life, this is not something to mess about with.
