The Juggle
Do you ever feel like you’ve just plain old got too many balls in the air?
I don’t know about you but after I’d had Alyssa for around 4 months I realised that I was pretty much trying to still do everything I’ve ever done as well as be a good Mum. And considering that I [...]
Ending The Post-Partum Weight Loss Battle For Good – Part One
Following is an article I recently wrote as a guest post for another website. You may recognise that I’ve replicated the portion on selenium from a previous post for BodyAfterBump, but the rest is all new!
So you’ve had the baby, you’ve wondered in the joy of what a precious little bundle you managed to create, [...]
Is Meat-Eating Based On Instinct?
Apparently so. We actually got this little episode on film, and it was hilarious. Everytime we tried to get the meat away from her she shrieked bloody murder until we gave it back. 3 guesses as to whether the same thing happened with a celery stalk, piece of sweet potato, or head of broccoli.
Got me [...]
.05 Breastmilk
According to the breastfeeding gurus, a standard glass of wine will be fully absorbed after 2 hours. Okay. That's not so bad. Mind you, a standard glass these days is 90mls. Hmm. And the risk of letting your bub drink alcoholic breastmilk (which, by the way, follows the same process as blood alcohol, so expressing and throwing away is futile. Only time works) is poor brain development. Considering that your brain develops to almost its full adult potential in your first year of life, this is not something to mess about with.
Why Do Women Let Themselves Go?
What do you think it is that separates a fit mum from one who slowly but ever so surely lets themselves go? It's not a deliberate choice, is it? I mean, surely no-one ever decided to consciously let the kilos pile on. And I wouldn't even say that getting into shape post-baby is an exception, so you can hardly argue that it's 'normal' for a woman to maintain any leftover baby weight for months and years to follow their pregnancy.
Losing My Religion
I’ve always been pretty selfish about the way I live my life. And once something is important to me I’ll move heaven and earth to make it happen. Over the past decade or so, exercise has increasingly become the prime example. I hate missing a planned session and would far rather miss (or at least [...]
You’re A Mum – You Can’t Wear A Bikini!
So I popped into work with Alyssa on Monday morning on my way to doing a bit of pre-Gold-Coast wardrobe sprucing-up. I was feeling pretty good actually. Despite the fact that the scales are still sitting firm at around 7kg over my pre-preggie weight, I’m happy with how my body is looking. I’m tightening up [...]
Exercise For Fun? What The?!
Yesterday was Alyssa’s first trip up the 1000 stairs in Ferntree Gully National Park (she did want to go alone with all the other kids from my family reunion, but I had to insist on accompanying her). Anyway – and apologies for the joke attempt, it’s early early early – doing that beautiful outdoor trek [...]
