About Body After Bump

Body after Bump is a blog about the realities of getting back in shape after you squeeze out that screaming little bundle of joy. (It is joy, isn’t it?)

It could be about getting yourself back to the shape you were in before you fell pregnant, or it might be about creating an entirely new you, about building glory out of the ruins that are the typical post-pregnancy body. And yes, I know, pregnancy is beautiful, an expectant mother is glorious, and there’s nothing quite so special for our bodies to do as to create a new being. To grow something out of nothing. But let’s be honest – as glorious and wondrous as that bump and its accompanying glow can be, the aftermath is not so pretty. And it’s most definitely not where we want to stay in terms of our physicality. I know I don’t want to be defined immediately by all who meet me as ‘mother’. ‘Hot mother’ will do quite nicely, thanks very much!

And maybe I’m just incredibly vain, or selfish, or a control freak (probably all three), but I certainly don’t think I’m the only one. Am I?

So here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to be posting to Body After Bump at least a couple of times each week. And I won’t be holding anything back. Of course I really have only a vague idea as to what, in fact, I’ll be sharing with you, given that I still have 11 days to go until my due date. But the plan is there, and here’s what it entails:

  • A selection of practical nutrition tips to allow you to easily fuel your body for baby chasing, fat shedding, and regular workout time
  • Snapshot information about your hormones, about what’s going on in the days weeks and months post-birth, and what you can do to take control rather than be controlled
  • A regular insight into my own post-baby progress as I battle to return to the fit’n'toned person I was 9 or so months back. With weekly photos and measurements (eeek!). I’ll also give you a detailed overview of the exercise techniques I’m using, the food I’m eating, supplements I’m using, and anything else that becomes relevant along the way
  • Even more detailed exercise advice and tips for making post-baby training quick and simple – courtesy of my resident exercise guru and trainer to the stars Travis Jones
  • The opportunity to share your own progress, photos and measurements if you like, and to get involved with comments, questions and tips for other hot mamas
  • Lifestyle and motivational advice for keeping it all together when it just becomes too damn hard
  • The chance to be part of a site simply chock full of helpful hints and people who know exactly what you’re going through because they’re going through it themselves.

So who am I for you to trust?

I probably should have introduced myself sooner, but I got a little carried away there. My name is Kat Eden, and (as you’ve read) I’m about to become a mother for the first time. And yes, I am pretty vain, I can be quite selfish, and I’m definitely a control freak. And I’m quite quite certain (cross out) absolutely determined to get my body back into tip-top shape in a minimal amount of time. Whatever that may be (although I’ve secretly set myself a 3-month goal for looking pretty damn fine by the time we go on our annual late-Summer holiday).

This site is partly about keeping accountable to myself – after all, I have too much pride to publicy state my intentions and then do anything less than my very best to reach them. Which is one reason why I’d suggest posting your own goals on this blog, by the way!

Anyway – a little more about me and why I know I can help support, educate and motivate you into being whatever sort of yummy mummy you want to be. I’ve been a Personal Trainer for over a decade now, and have invested some serious effort into studies that extend well beyond this. I’m a qualified BioSignature practitioner, an advanced Metabolic Typing advisor, and a CHEK Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach. I’ve worked with hundreds and hundreds of clients both one on one and in groups and I have a pretty good success rate when it comes to total body transformations. I have post-natal experience, but it’s not my speciality. Although that’s changing as we speak!

But more importantly than all that, I know what I want and I know that I’ll get it. For me, it’s all about feeling a certain way, and I feel a certain way when I look a certain way. I was pretty much at my peak in the year leading up to my pregnancy -

But it’s not all about me. Something else that I want is to share my knowledge and my motivational abilities with women like me. There’s nothing that gets to me more than seeing a woman so desperately unhappy with who she is, or who she’s become. And, like it or not, who we are physically greatly influences other aspects of our lives. Confidence, for one thing. Self-belief. Even energy. You know I’m right. So, no, it’s not all about aesthetics, and yes, I will be writing plenty about health and mindset (although I believe true ‘hotness’ comes from a foundation of ideal health and a strong mind anyway, so it’s all related), but in great part it does all come back to how we look. My driving factor (my underlying motivation, I guess you’d call it), is being in control. For me that’s represented by my image (among other things). And I have no idea what your driving factor is, and maybe you don’t either, but I think we both know that it definitely can’t hurt to invest regular time and effort into regaining your health, your figure, your confidence, and most of all – that sense of being you. So let’s get started.

Body plus baby? Easy!*

Kat
